Capsule-Collection Organic cotton and Bogolan technique

MINIMALis a capsule-collection manufactured entirely in african laboratories of Burkina Faso made from eco-friendly materials and designed by Sara Pasquarelli fashion designer. The collection is made from 100% organic cotton  and with the Bogolan technique, natural technique with the use of clay. (The Bogolan technique of dyeing and printing cotton is entirely organic and kind to the environment. It contains no harmful mordants or chemicals and it uses dried leaves and tree bark as dye stuff.)

The association AFEPO has realized the fabrics manually from the harvest of the cotton plants, to the yarn spinning, to the twisting of the yarn and then to the weaving with the looms, in accordance with a system of crop rotation. The Bogolan technique and  making-up processes for garments has been carried by  the laboratories Color de Sahel and Co.Promo.F. The project is developed in collaboration with HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation, a Swiss association which launched in Burkina Faso and other West African countries (Mali, Senegal and Benin) an initiative aimed at promoting the production of organic cotton and fair trade.

"Working on this project was a big challenge, above all the difficulties arising from the use of machinery and equipment have been many, but being able to create the kind of unique garments and craft was of great satisfaction. A meeting of cultures, an exchange of techniques, weaving and contaminating an ancient African technique, the Bogolan, with a style close to our "Made in Italy", a mix of antique and modern, simplicity and sophistication".
